The Cove Gallery

Our Story

In a modest 10x10 space at 1492 South Coast Highway, in 1972 Mabel Speciale opened her own gallery to showcase her own work. The gallery was given her namesake – The Mabel Speciale Gallery.

One year later, when the buildings were remodeled at that location, Mabel moved her gallery to a larger space and invited other local artists to showcase their work alongside hers. Only watercolor paintings were featured. It was this time in 1973 the gallery received it current name of the Cove Gallery.

Around 1992 the group of fifteen artists displaying their work, formed a partnership to purchase the gallery from Mabel who retired.

Just a few years ago, the partners introduced other mediums outside of watercolor work. Today acrylic, oil and watercolor paintings adorn the walls.

In June of 2007, the Cove Gallery moved to its present location at 1492 #8 South Coast Highway.
