Mary Holt

Mary is a graduate of Marquette University’s Dental hygiene Program. She did not catch the “art bug” until she became interested in photography  in the late 1970’s. After a few years she knew her photos would make good watercolor paintings, an art form she greatly admires. She found a local teacher, Jacque Joy Nelson, who taught her more about color than she ever imagined possible. She spent 10 years with Jacque learning many watercolor techniques from her.

She then began painting with acrylics on watercolor paper and, ultimately canvas, reading everything available on the subject. She has attended many watercolor and acrylic workshops including Robert Burridge and Maxine Masterfield. Mary is a Signature Member of Niguel Art Association and has received awards from San Clemente Art Association as well.

Light, shadows and beautiful color are Mary’s inspirations and she vows to never stop learning about the whole painting process!
